Our Pledge to You, the Parent
We pledge to keep you informed of your child's progress and to be available to discuss
your concerns or answer your questions any time the Achievement Center is open.
You are also welcome to visit during school hours.
The concentrated attention, high quality instruction and positive reinforcement
The Achievement Center provides help foster the self-confidence and hone the cognitive
skills every student needs to reach his or her full academic potential. We look
forward to helping your son or daughter bridge the achievement gap.
Faculty
Our outstanding faculty creates individual instructional plans to meet each student's
educational needs and goals. Our teachers are highly expert in their respective
fields and focus on providing the enthusiasm and encouragement needed to learn.
Terry Davis, PhD, is currently an adjunct psychology professor at the USF.
While studying for her BS in mathematics, she was awarded an NDEA fellowship to
study statistics and design applications. After completing her doctorate in counseling
psychology, Ms. Davis established a private practice, while continuing to teach
intermittently at the University of Arkansas, the University of Memphis, and Old
Dominion University before moving to Florida.
Brian Lee Bonfonti earned his Bachelor's with a focus on new media and literature
from New College of Florida. In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. Bonfonti
is a lead creative designer for, and board member of, the not-for-profit Atomic Blue
Corporation, whose flagship project PlaneShift is an internationally recognized,
freely developed educational online game. Mr. Bonfonti also founded Firebirdsolar.com,
a commercial company seeking eco-friendly power solutions.
Administration
Jack Winner received his BA from Rutgers University and his MA and PhD from Bryn
Mawr College. He has taught at English composition and literature at Bryn Mawr College,
Louisiana State University, and Western Connecticut State University and currently
teaches film courses at Ringling College of Art and Design.
Karen Whatley received her BA in psychology and her MA in English from Louisiana
State University, where she taught English composition. She was awarded a full fellowship
to Emory University where she began work toward her PhD. Ms. Whatley also
taught private school in Connecticut and completed secondary school certification
coursework in English there.
